STATE-OF-THE-ART KEN LEPIN LECTURE THEATRE OPENS AT RIH

Thank you to the many generous donors to the “Save me a Seat” campaign in support of medical education at RIH. Each donor received a dedicated plaque in the Ken Lepin Lecture Theatre so they can always find their “seat” in the theatre.

March 10, 2017 marked the official opening of the Ken Lepin Lecture Theatre at Royal Inland. Named in honour of local philanthropist, Ken Lepin, the leading-edge theatre brings a new level of educational opportunities and innovation to RIH.
When asked why he chose to support the theatre project, Ken explains: “I wanted to leave a legacy at RIH that will have a long lasting impact on the medical staff. The health care team at RIH is incredible and they deserve a beautiful space for learning and collaborating.”
The lecture-style seating accommodates more than 120 people and the technology includes two massive projector screens, videoconferencing capabilities and mics at each seat. The theatre is already attracting new medical conferences to Kamloops which the hospital could not previously accommodate due to space and technology limitations.

With both TRU nursing students and UBC students and medical residents training at RIH, the hospital has quickly transformed itself into a new medical education hub in our city. Physicians, medical professionals, nurses and students will now have greater access to learning opportunities which directly contributes to patient care excellence throughout the hospital and our community.

“I wanted to leave a legacy at RIH that will have a long lasting impact on the medical staff. The health care team at RIH is incredible and they deserve a beautiful space for learning and collaborating.”
